When Sky Is the Limit.....

I have always admired people with ‘never quit’ attitude, individuals with strong will and courage to rise against all odds, souls who dare to turn their weaknesses and shortfalls into their strengths. I hold them in high regard.

This story is about the person I have known for few years. Born to a very moderate family with meagre earning, this boy was sent to one of the government schools that lacked all the basic facilities and was sufficiently ill-equipped in all the aspects (that a centre of education is expected to possess).

The boy was sharp and dreamt to make it big in life. After his basic schooling he joined a college of a well-known government-run university (with reasonable fee structure). The admission there too was not easy with scores of other competitors applying for the same course.

He worked hard and qualified all the hurdles that came his way. The first time he attended the lecture in a better maintained classroom, he was truly delighted thinking this would take him closer to his dream. But this happiness did not last for long. As the lecturer began his discourse in english, this' hindi-meduim' boy was clean bowled. All happiness and confidence took a back seat.He was unable to grasp what the mentor was trying to convey.

Few years were full of struggle. Everywhere he went he was made to realize about his folly. Be it a college classroom, administrative office or any other place, the guys with fluent English enjoyed a better deal. They were the 'preffered lots'.

It was difficult for him to cope but he decided to face the situation. There were moments when he was even ridiculed for his lack of English speaking. He decided to take this impediment to his progress as a challenge and he started working towards it.

He spent hours in the library reading books. He read all the possible newspapers that came to the hostel. He managed to borrow magazines from his some friends who didn’t mind helping their struggling chap.

Although lectures were not all easy to understand he made sure to make points of all that the professors said. When back to hostel he took out dictionary and tried to connect the statements to fathom the actual meaning.

Months turned into years and he finally managed to pass out with reasonably good percentage. Now he wanted to join a better college for his further studies. Fortunately he got admission in one of the colleges of Delhi University.

He had learnt from his earlier experiences that hard work always paid. He continued to work hard, tried every possible technique and mechanism that could justify his presence in one of the reputed colleges. Two years of post graduation was completed. He was not amongst the toppers but he passed with average marks.

His average marks fetched him an average job in one of the publishing houses. This job though not very lucrative gave him immense satisfaction. He was at the editing desk, correcting mistakes of others.

He enjoyed his work and continued to dedicate some quality time for further learning. It was this passion and dedication that helped him improve  and enhance his standard . His quality went on improving from better to best.

It is difficult to keep extraordinary talent under shadow. His extremely good grip over the language and excellent understanding of the fundamentals took him to greater heights. He reached the position that he had dreamt of.

Today he is working with one of the leading publishing houses. Sitting at the editors desk, this 'one-time' hindi medium student edits and corrects the errors of famous authors.

This man proved that success comes to those who dare to dream high and work against all perils. True, sky is the limit for all those who want to do achieve something in life.  Fortune favors brave.
